Hand-Carved Ring Stories
There are many ways to endow your wedding band with deep personal symbolism. The stones you choose, the metal, the finish – all this could speak for your feelings, sensibilities, and shared vision of the future. Jelena Behrend is always delighted to work on customizing rings to fashion them into magic objects, in which love stories and prefiguration of shared future are compressed into a work of art.
Carving initials or symbolic designs is yet another way to personalize your jewelry.
Here are the sample stories behind some of the rings that Jelena created in the past and named after the people who inspired them. She will be delighted to re-create the design or to adjust it to speak better to your love.
On Kristin’s request, Jelena incorporated the infinity sign into an organic ornament, to symbolize everlasting love that continuously renews and reinvents itself.
Another example of a floral hand-carved design are this beautiful pair of rings. The noble bay-leaf pattern on them is borrowed from Greek mythology, where wreath of bay laurels were given to honor the highest artistic achievement. It is also evocative of the verses of Ovid’s Metamorphoses, which describe the transformation of the beautiful nymph Daphne into a laurel tree that becomes a symbol of eternal Apollonian inspiration.
